Job title

Officer for Data Protection (ODP)

Job description

Are you passionate about data protection and building trust within an international organization? At Planon (part of the Schneider Electric group), you’ll have the opportunity to truly make an impact. As an Officer Data Protection (ODP), you’ll play a key role in shaping and implementing our data protection\ policies, working closely with colleagues across Planon and with Schneider Electric’s Global DPO Team.

In this position, you’ll report directly to our CISO and be an integral part of the Cyber Security and Data Protection Office (CSDPO). Your mission? To ensure that “privacy by design and by default” isn’t just a principle—but a standard embedded in our products, processes, and company culture.

Please be aware that vacancy is not a role of Data Protection Officer (DPO) as set forth in the GDPR. Instead, it focuses more on the technical and organizational implementation of the requirements as set forth in the GDPR.

Your Role

As Officer Data Protection, you are the driving force behind our data protection program. You’ll develop and maintain policies and guidelines related to data protection and advise internal teams on how to ensure compliance with relevant regulations like the GDPR.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining our corporate data protection program and Schneider’s Trust Standards;
  • Translating legal and regulatory data protection requirements into practical policies and guidelines;
  • Drafting and maintaining procedures for protecting personal data;
  • Leading projects to meet evolving data protection compliance requirements;
  • Supporting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs);
  • Creating and delivering data protection  training and awareness programs;
  • Collaborating with our Legal department on Data Processing Agreements (DPAs) with clients, suppliers, and partners, including conducting due diligence processes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Acting as a point of contact for the business and the Schneider Electric group;
  • Identifying data protection risks and opportunities for improvement across the organization;
  • Ensuring data protection is structurally embedded into business processes ("privacy by design");
  • Keeping personal data processing activities and risk assessments up to date;
  • Participating in cross-functional initiatives to ensure data protection is considered from the start;
  • Building strong relationships to align with strategic business goals;
  • Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) during RFP and tender processes;
  • Supporting internal and external audits where applicable.

Profile

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field;
  • Thorough knowledge of information security and European data protection legislation (e.g., GDPR);
  • 3 year of experience within the Data Protection Domain. CIPP/E certified is a plus;
  • Experience with conducting audits, risk assessments, and preferably DPIAs;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written). German is a plus;
  • Proactive, self-driven, and skilled at aligning people and interests across departments.
